The City of Stuart will be abuzz this weekend with two community events.
The Stuart Good Egg Day and the town’s 150th celebration will be held on Saturday. Stuart Chamber Board President Ryan Morrison says they combined both events because COVID-19 cancelled both last year.
“Yeah we had a pretty action-packed weekend planned last year for the 150th and unfortunately, things got scaled down and ultimately cancelled for last year. So we moved it over this year. Unfortunately, with an event like this, planning has to start early. So when the planning began it was chosen to be one day just because we didn’t know how life would’ve returned by this time. Yeah, but we’re excited to celebrate 150 years, even if it’s a little bit late, and bring back exciting things to Good Egg Days as well.”
The event will begin with a 5K run/walk at 8am from Lawbaugh Park, followed by the parade at 10:30. There will be a noon meal of pulled pork sandwiches served by the Stuart Lions Club and water fights by the Stuart Fire Department. Other afternoon activities include a baby contest at 1:30, tractor pull at 2, and the Bill Riley Talent Show at 3. There will be a special dedication ceremony of Kloewer Field at 4pm, followed by an alumni game and then the banquet at the high school. The event wraps with a street dance on Division Street from 9pm-midnight and there will be fireworks at dusk.
Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Little Big Red Radio will also broadcast live on Saturday.
