The Greene County School Board met in regular session Wednesday night.

The Board approved changes to the extra-curricular pay schedule. The notable changes included allowing E-Sports to be paid at the four unit rate per coach, including three individuals; moving Ramfanatic from the extra-curricular schedule and to be added to additional contract days, and removing summer safari and drill team from the schedule as presented.

Next, the Board approved the second reading of a revised board policy, with minimal language changes, to the district’s drug and alcohol testing program, and scheduled two public hearings for the July 21st meeting to receive input on the list of projects and programs with the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds and selling property to the Greene County Early Learning Center for their building project.

The Board also approved the return to work after workers compensation program, where employees can have job responsibilities change following an injury to get those employees back to work quicker in order to reduce the mod for the coverage. The changes were recommended by the district’s insurance carrier, EMC Insurance. They also approved several change orders for the middle school renovation and new high school projects for a total of $31,338. The Board then approved to pay $52,817 of Physical Plant and Equipment Levy funds to convert all analog radio communication systems in the school vehicles to digital, the 2021-2022 fees, with changes to activity tickets and eliminating the family pass.

Finally, as per the recommendation of the Iowa Association of School Boards and the Board approved the first readings for new board policies, including the suspension and debarment of vendors and contractor procedures, as well as using federal funds to procure contracts.
