DCG baseball and softball continued their busy June stretch on Monday night, when they took on Indianola in a doubleheader, as the girls fell just short of grabbing the upset and the boys getting a split against good competition.
The girls battled hard in both of their games, falling 9-6 in the first game and 7-6 in the second game, as they were tough in both contests. In the first game, a three run fourth and five run fifth were the difference for Indianola, as they were able to put together a string of hits in each of those innings to help balloon the lead. In the second game, DCG trailed by four going into the seventh, they picked up four runs to tie the game, but gave up one in the bottom of the inning to just fall short. DCG is 13-11 while Indianola improves to 24-3.
DCG baseball lost in the first game by the score of 7-3 before halving the games on the night winning 17-5. The 17 runs are tied for the highest output of the season, as the Mustangs were able to put up runs in five of the seven frames. DCG moves to 9-11 while Indianola now has a mark of 17-6.
Both teams will return to action tomorrow, as they both will be on the prowl for more wins.
