A small fire at John Deere in Paton Wednesday was quickly handled.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Paton, Grand Junction and Jefferson fire departments, Greene County Ambulance and the sheriff’s office responded to the incident at 3:46pm. Paton Fire Chief Jonathan Marshall said the fire was contained to a dust collection system in the facility. He noted the believed cause of the fire was from a purged filtration system that caused two filters to rub together, which then created a spark and lit a fire inside the dust collection system.
Marshall said no one was hurt and there was minimal damage done. He added the sprinkler system mostly extinguished the flames by the time they arrived on scene.
