Nevada won its Senior Night softball game over Greene County last night by a 7-2 final in a game broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team split the two-game season series with the Cubs and fell to 5-15 overall and the Rams finished 3-9 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The Cubs went 4-8 in league play and are 11-15 overall.

Ellie Gray’s two out, three run double in the second inning put the Cubs up 3-0 and the lead grew to 4-0 in the third. Emma Hoyle hit a two run homer in the top of the fifth for the only Greene County runs. It was Hoyle’s second home run this season, both vs. Nevada, and third of her career. Peyton Hanson answered with a two run shot of her own in the bottom of the frame and a run in the sixth rounded out the scoring.

Both teams were charged with three errors and only two Nevada runs were earned and neither of the runs for the Rams were earned.

The Rams were out hit seven to five, and Hoyle’s homer was the lone extra base hit for Greene County. Karissa Stephenson, Olivia Shannon, Carmyn Paup, and Hoyle all singled.

Greene County is off tonight and the Rams play at Ogden on Friday night to end the regular season.
