illegal-fireworks

With‌ ‌the‌ ‌Independence‌ Day ‌holiday‌ ‌coming‌ ‌up,‌ ‌one‌ ‌activity‌ ‌most‌ ‌people‌ ‌associate‌ ‌the‌ ‌celebration‌ ‌with‌ ‌is‌ ‌fireworks.‌ ‌

However,‌ ‌despite‌ ‌the‌ ‌changes‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌Iowa‌ ‌Legislature‌ ‌a‌ ‌few‌ ‌years‌ ‌ago‌ ‌that‌ ‌legalized‌ ‌consumer‌ ‌ fireworks‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌state,‌ ‌one‌ ‌Greene‌ ‌County‌ ‌community‌ ‌still‌ ‌doesn’t‌ ‌allow‌ ‌them‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌shot‌ ‌off‌ ‌within‌ ‌city‌ ‌limits.‌ ‌The‌ ‌City‌ ‌of‌ ‌Jefferson‌ ‌ordinance‌ ‌bans‌ ‌fireworks,‌ ‌with‌ ‌exception‌ ‌of‌ ‌sparklers,‌ ‌snakes,‌ ‌smoke‌ ‌bombs,‌ ‌snappers‌ ‌and‌ ‌other‌ ‌novelty‌ ‌fireworks.‌ ‌The‌ ‌ordinance‌ ‌also‌ ‌allows‌ ‌for‌ ‌selling‌ ‌of‌ ‌consumer‌ ‌fireworks‌ ‌within‌ ‌city‌ ‌limits‌ ‌from‌ ‌a‌ ‌temporary‌ ‌location.‌ ‌

There‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌a‌ ‌fireworks‌ ‌display‌ ‌this‌ ‌Sunday‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌City‌ ‌of‌ ‌Jefferson‌ ‌and‌ ‌Wild‌ ‌Rose‌ ‌Casino‌ ‌and‌ ‌Resort‌ ‌at‌ ‌dusk‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌casino‌ ‌parking‌ ‌lot.‌ ‌The‌ ‌event‌ ‌is‌ ‌free‌ ‌and‌ ‌open‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌public.‌ ‌
