A Waukee man was arrested following an alleged incident in Stuart last week.
According to court documents at 5:05am on July 3rd, a Stuart Police Officer responded to a call of a female victim claiming a male suspect was banging on the vehicle’s windows in a threatening way, as the victim and her infant child were locked inside the vehicle in a driveway in Stuart.
The male suspect left the scene before the officer arrived. The victim told the officer the suspect, 23-year-old Triston Ladwig had broken into the residence twice earlier in the day and caused damage. One of the times, Ladwig tried to take the child from the victim and took her cell phone. Later on, the victim said Ladwig was banging on the vehicle’s windows after the victim and child were dropped off at a mutual friend’s vehicle and locked themselves inside.
The officer made contact with Ladwig on the victim’s cell phone and he told the officer he wasn’t giving it back to the victim and hung up. After the officer located Ladwig, he admitted to using force to enter the residence where the victim was at and that he took her cell phone.
Ladwig was then arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for second degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree theft, as well as other misdemeanors for his first offense for domestic abuse assault, child endangerment, obstruction of emergency communications and fifth degree criminal mischief. He was booked and released from the Guthrie County Jail after posting a $9,000 bond.
