Thursday was Kids Day at the Dallas County Fair and there was plenty of fun and livestock shows that took place.

Dallas County Extension 4-H Youth Coordinator Allie Wisgerhof says it was nice to see all of the shows take place a little more normal this year.

“We are so happy to have everybody back and while we were so thankful to be able to even have some sort of modified show last year it was nothing like the typical Dallas County Fair that we were used to. So, it is such a blessing and we are so excited to have everybody back here, see all the smiling faces and the kids having fun because that is what 4-H is all about.”

Wisgerhof tells Raccoon Valley Radio that 4-H and FFA members put in a year’s worth of hard work in preparation of the county fair. Wisgerhof says it’s a good feeling to have everyone out on the fairgrounds seeing the hard work from the youth.

“To be able to have it in it’s normal format is just awesome and it’s so exciting to see friends and smiling faces that we maybe didn’t get to see last year, and see grandparents, and parents, and everybody in the stands because it’s just a breath of fresh air after such a tough year. It’s so good to be able to see things back to a normal Dallas County Fair and I almost think that it’s more special this year because we didn’t get to have a year last year.”

There will be plenty of other 4-H and FFA livestock shows taking place throughout the Dallas County Fair which runs until July 11th.
