adm-7

Odds were against the ADM baseball team after one inning of play on Monday night against the Grinnell Tigers, trailing 5-0 after one inning of play against one of the best teams in the state. Then things changed, the Tigers started putting together big innings, including four runs in the seventh inning to stun the top overall seed Grinnell 9-6 to advance to the substate championship. ADM moves to 11-17 and Grinnell ends their season at 29-6.

Tate Stine – Smith was able to put together a massive outing in relief, picking up the win in six inning, giving up one run on two hits, two walks, and five strikeouts, as he was able to slow down the game and keep the Tigers in while they mounted their comeback. ADM was able to score four in the third inning, as Grant Garton was able to spearhead the inning with a two run single to help pull the Tigers within one. In the fifth inning, ADM would tie it thanks to Christian Madison on a key hit.

After a Grinnell run in the bottom of the sixth, ADM sent ten hitters to the plate in the seventh inning, with the go ahead hit picked up by Grant Rychnovsky, who delivered a two run RBI double, his first two RBIs of the season, to give the Tigers a lead that they would not lose.

ADM will be playing tomorrow night against the Toreadors of Boone in the Substate 7 final. The winner of that game will be moving on to the state tournament next week in Iowa City. The game will be broadcast on True Country K1079, the KKRF app, and raccoonvalleyradio.com. First pitch will be thrown at 7:00.
