The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, County Attorney Thomas Laehn addressed the Board on a couple of topics. He said he discussed with Jefferson City Attorney David Morain on the 28E agreement regarding the new law enforcement center. He said the City requested clarification on some of the details of the agreement before the city council approves it. He also mentioned three criminal cases and the fact that each were resolved by way of the suspects going to prison, including Justin Cosnotti, Daniel Tasler and Nathaniel Aldrich for 11 years, four years and 15 years, respectively.

The Board then accepted the county treasurer’s quarterly report for April through June as presented and approved the semi-annual report with a beginning fund balance of $7,763,541 in January and an ending fund balance of $7,905,414 on June 30th. The Board then approved two applications for the disabled veteran tax credit.

Finally, the Board heard an Iowa Drainage District Association update with John Torbert. He talked mainly about bills that were approved by the Iowa Legislature during this past legislative session. One new law was no longer requiring publication costs during the classification process, but instead providing public access to those documents. Another new law was increasing the threshold for retaining an engineer to make repairs on a drainage tile from $50,000 to $139,000.
