For one area baseball team, their journey to the state tournament took them through the top seeded teams in the postseason.

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers took out the number four-seeded Clarke Indians 10-0, the number one-seed Grinnell Tigers 9-6 and most recently the number two-seeded Boone Toreadors 8-4 to advance to the state tournament for a third straight season.

Head Baseball Coach Jason Book shares his thoughts on going back to the state tournament.

“It feels really good. The guys are just really believing in how we need to play to win and what we need to do. They finally bought in and decided, ‘Hey we are not ready to be done playing baseball let’s guarantee ourselves one more game’ and that’s what we kind of keep talking about is one more game. It’s been a lot of fun. I’m just kind of thankful these guys are taking me on this ride with them.”

The eighth-seeded Tigers move on to the Class 3A State Tournament next week taking place in Iowa City for their opening round game against the number one seed Marion Indians at 1:30 p.m. July 28th. Raccoon Valley Radio will have the live call of the game on K1079.
