This week WCV Baseball Coach John Wheeler joined me for the PM Sports Page. Here’s a little bit of our discussion.

As mentioned before, the Wildcats continued to make strides in 2021. Baserunning was no different for WCV. Coach Wheeler had this to say about the baserunning. “Yes, aggressiveness is a big deal. There’s  a couple things that go into that. Even though we had 100 hits, some of the game we only came away with three or four hits and that’s not going to do a lot.”

Wheeler would continue to stress the reason for his teams more aggressive play in 2021. “So, if people got on base I tried to advantage as much as possible. Because I know other teams are very capable of coming back.

The new approach did work to advance a lot of Wildcats. While this season didn’t quite pan out the way WCV had hoped this is a solid foundation for 2022.
