Greene County head football coach and strength & conditioning coach Caden Duncan and other coaches in the school system recently completed summer workouts. The coming week is known as “Family Week” with no contact with coaches and athletes. Coach Duncan explains. “This is a new thing this year that the state, the Athletic Association, instituted. It’s a mandatory week off, and we used to call it Dead Week. It’s actually always been built into our programs ever since I’ve been a coach to give kids a week off before camps start. The Association came out this year and said it’s a mandatory thing statewide and there can’t be any contact between coaches and athletes, whether that’s practices, lifting, anything like that. You’re really even supposed to even open up school facilities.”

After “Family Week” the Ram football program will have its football camp for high school players Aug. 2-3-4, with a camp on Aug. 5 for those in grades 5 through 8. A fundraising golf tournament will be held on Aug. 6, then official high school practices for all Fall sports in Iowa begin on Monday, Aug. 9.
