A non-profit organization inches closer to its goal for a new building project in Jefferson.

Renewable Energy Group (REG) donated $50,000 toward the Greene County Early Learning Center building project. REG joins a number of other businesses and organizations that have donated funds to the child care provider to build a new $2.1 million facility that is expected to increase its capacity for child care of nearly 50-percent to 150 children.

The donation is part of the “Growth Happens Here” campaign. GCELC President Jacque Andrew recently told the Greene County School Board that bid documents were sent to the interested contractors and they are expecting to receive bids by August 5th. The project also took another step forward with the School Board selling a portion of the property to the Early Learning Center.
