A reminder that today St. Patrick’s School in Perry is celebrating its 100th anniversary of serving the community.

The St. Patrick Centennial Mass and Community Picnic will be held today starting at 4 p.m. There is no cost to attend the family-friendly event and following the mass there will be a free-will donation picnic supper at the school.

Principal Kandice Roethler is excited for today’s event and explains the details of what people can expect.

“So, our school kids are hosting mass. There will be a children’s choir, kids are responsible for the major components of mass and then following mass, at the church, there will be a hotdog and hamburger just picnic style meal happening that is going to be served out of the school and then we are going to have part of Fifth Street closed down and there is going to be face painting, sidewalk chalk, bubbles sort of just that family-friendly environment.”

Roethler says the school will also be open for tours for people to take part in and share their own history.
