For those who are looking to help people in need, Heart of Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers, as well as board and committee members to help with housing projects.
Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Jeff Lamoureux says volunteers are asked to help with installing windows, some siding repair, painting, gutter repair, landscaping and yard clean up for existing homes. He describes the duties of a board member.
“Each county of Boone, Greene and Guthrie has its own board which oversees the day-to-day operations and makes decisions on the direction we are going to go and whether we are going to continue with Helping Hands (projects). Where we want to build and make those decisions and work with volunteers.”
Lamoureux adds that this Board meets every other month.
He says they are also looking for people to fill their three committee positions which are construction, church of volunteer relations and family program. Contact the Habitat office in Jefferson if you are interested.
