ADM Tigers baseball had made a miracle run to the state tournament in Iowa City, playing the role of David as they took out big teams throughout their run, but unfortunately that came to an end on Wednesday against Marion, falling by the score of 11-2. On a hot day in Iowa City, Marion was able to record their 4th consecutive double figure run game.
Marion came in as one of the best offensive teams in the state of Iowa, and played like it putting up runs in the 2nd inning with 3, 4 in the 3rd inning, and 4 in the 4th inning as the Tigers had to use four pitchers during the day. Tate Stine-Smith threw for the Tigers but only made it three innings giving up seven runs, with only four of those being earned.
ADM was able to put across a run each in both the 4th and 5th inning, scoring in the 4th thanks to a Marion error and scoring in the fifth with a Cole Williamson RBI ground out. The Indians threw their ace in Boede Rahe, as he went four innings giving up just 2 hits and one unearned run. ADM had runners in scoring position in five of their seven innings, but they were held at bay in five of the innings during the day.
Marion will move to semifinal action action against Central DeWitt tomorrow.
ADM ends the season at 12-18 but was able to put together a special postseason run that ended with their 3rd appearance to the state tournament.
