While the coronavirus pandemic prevented an annual event from taking place normally last year in Adel, this year the event is back in full swing.

Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Bengston says last year the 41st Annual
Adel Sweet Corn Festival was essentially relegated to a few virtual events due to the pandemic.  Bengston is happy to have the event return to pre-pandemic levels.

“It’s going to take place pretty normal. We are leaving it up to attendees discretion. We have expanded the parade route.”

Bengston tells Raccoon Valley Radio the expansion of the parade route is due to the large groups of people attending the event as well as spreading vendor booths out. Bengston invites everyone to come out and enjoy the festival.

“So, come and enjoy the day and feel like we are getting back to a little bit of normal.”

The 42nd Annual Adel Sweet Corn Festival will kick off at 4:30 p.m. this Friday with the shucking of the corn. Raccoon Valley Radios Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from Adel during the corn shucking event from 4-7 p.m. this Friday.
