
Tuesday, August 10th
2:13pm: An officer investigated a One Vehicle Accident in the 300 Block of North Chestnut Street. A 2001 Ford Taurus, owned by William Richardson and operated by Brittany Smith of Jefferson, was westbound on East Washington Street. Smith turned right onto North Chestnut Street and the vehicle’s steering and brakes failed. Smith struck the building at 302 North Chestnut Street and a post. The building had a reported $1000.00 in damages. The Richardson vehicle had a reported $5000.00 in damages. Officers located a trail of fluid in the roadway from the vehicle. The brakes had failed.
3:26pm: Hy-Vee reported two females in the business, who were eating produce as they shopped. The officers located the pair and spoke to them about the incident. The business allowed them to continue shopping and no criminal action was pursued.
3:32pm: Oly’s Corner advised a vehicle had left 208 West Lincoln Way Street, without paying for $30.26 in fuel. The officer is investigating.
6:34pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 200 Block of West Madison Street.
6:38pm: HyVee reported a male subject had pumped $5.00 in fuel into a vehicle at about 1530 hours. The subject entered the business and advised he could not pay for the fuel and was allowed to leave. He was told to return and pay for the fuel, but had not done so. The officer is investigating.
9:19pm: A Traffic Stop in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Jason Vander Waal of Norwalk being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
9:23pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call at 771 Wild Rose Lane.
10:41pm: Steve Cort advised someone was ringing his doorbell at 906 West Harrison Street and running away. The officer did not locate anyone in the area.
