High level volleyball player Brianna Osterson graduated in May, as did fellow seniors Eliza Carlson and Lily Muir, but Greene County head coach Chris Heisterkamp has several players returning from last season. Add those with experience to a freshman class that shows promise, and there are a lot of good feelings in this first week of official volleyball practice.

Returning letter winners include senior Brianna Habben, who didn’t play high school volleyball until last season. Juniors lettering in 2020 are Katrina Heupel, Natalie Heupel, and Bella Schroeder. Sophomore Kaylee Stalder lettered as a freshman.

Winning more sets and matches is certainly one of the goals entering the season, which hasn’t happen lately. The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference is back to eight teams with the addition of Perry. West Marshall (State Center) entered the league last fall, following the departures of North Polk (Alleman) and Gilbert to the Raccoon River Activities Conference. Other HOIAC schools are Saydel (Des Moines), South Hamilton (Jewell), Roland-Story (Story City), PMC (Monroe), and Nevada.
