Once again WCV head football coach Jim Lindsay sat down to talk about the 2021 season on the Wahl McAtee Tire & Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page.

The 2020 season provided unique challenges with COVID. This season seems to be more of a normal year for WCV. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some new changes for this offseason. When asked about the changes coming to this season here’s Coach Lindsay’s response, “Well, ya know, no more two a days. You can practice for a maximum of four hours a day. But only three of those can be on the field. Gone are the days of grinding it out for six or seven hours on the field and taking that hour break and come back.”

Coach Lindsay would go on to talk about the Wildcats’ practices being quicker with these restrictions. “We like to keep things fast paced. We’re not on the field more than 2 to 2 and half hours. As the season goes that even shorten. A lot short breaks. We don’t do a lot of heavy contact.”

Lindsay was then asked about how much time is dedicated to contact in practice. “During the season we’ll do at least two days of contact. Sometimes three. Again, we’re not doing more than 15-20 minutes of actual full contact.”

With player safety always being a priority, coaches have to be a little more creative with their practices. WCV has already made those changes having safe quick practices.
