Since the pandemic has started people are flocking to the Guthrie County campgrounds.
According to Guthrie County Conservation, the 2021 fiscal report, that runs from July 1, 2020 to June 30 of 2021, shows the best year ever with roughly $68,000 in camping revenue. Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman says they had to close campsites when the pandemic started last year, but once they reopened there was a large usage in their campgrounds. Halterman tells Raccoon Valley Radio he does see a time it could slow down.
“The numbers are great, they continued through the summer, we’re seeing really good usage of those campgrounds and things haven’t slowed up as of yet but of course things will slow up a little bit when school starts.”
Halterman adds, they expect a good turn out for campsites during the Labor Day holiday weekend. The Guthrie County campgrounds do not accept reservations, it is first come first serve.
