After an increase in unemployment in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area in June, the percentages of those without a job went down last month.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Guthrie County saw a 0.7-percent decrease in unemployment from June to July to 3.6-percent. Greene County’s unemployment rate dropped 0.5-percent from June to July to 3.6-percent. Dallas County had a decrease of 0.4-percent from June to July to 2.9-percent unemployment.

All three counties are doing better than the state or national unemployment rate. Iowa’s unemployment rate for July was 4.1-percent and the national unemployment rate was 5.4-percent.
