wcv-10

WCV football started the season off with a big 7-0 win over North Mahaska.

It was a classic hard nosed gridiron matchup between the Warhawks and Wildcats. Both teams defenses put up quite the show. Despite the great defensive efforts for both teams it was the Wildcats that manage to score the game’s only points.

The crucial points came late in the first half. WCV put together a great drive that led them all the way down to the North Mahaska eight yard line. The Warhawks held WCV to a 4th and 1 with 1:55 left in the first half. Fullback Kaedon Lindsay took a handoff and picked up three yards to set up a 1st and Goal from the Warhawk’s five.

A few plays later the Wildcats were looking at 3rd and Goal from the one. Then WCV handed it off to Kaedon Lindsay once again and he scored the game’s only touchdown with 1:23 to go in the 2nd quarter. WCV’s defense continued to do their job and the Wildcats came away with the first win of 2021.
