
Greene County boys cross-country began the season by placing second to Kuemper Catholic on Thursday at the West Central Valley Cross-Country Coed Invitational in Redfield at the middle school. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Rams had 60 points to 53 for the Knights. I-35 Truro was third at 66, followed by Nodaway Valley 115, Grandview Christian (Des Moines) 116, Ankeny Christian Academy 137, Saydel (Des Moines) 198, CAM (Anita) 212, and Southwest Valley (Corning) 238.
Senior Logan Woodruff led the Rams with a fifth place individual finish in 18:24 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Freshman Noah Hinote was twelfth in 19:31, followed by freshman Gavyn Winters, 13th in 19:41, senior Jayden Carstensen, 14th in 19:44, and junior Ethan Frederick, 16th in 19:58.
The Rams only had three runners in the girls’ race, two short of the minimum for a team score. Junior Olivia Shannon had the top Greene County finish. She was 17th in 25:10 for 5K.
