Iowa House Representative for District 62 Ras Smith visited Perry Friday to share his vision for Iowa as he vies for the democratic nomination for governor.

Smith recently announced he is running for the democratic nomination for governor which is what brought him to Perry on Friday to hear the thoughts and concerns from the people of Iowa and allow him to share what he aims to do for Iowa if he were to become governor.

Throughout the meeting Smith mentioned needed changes including getting the governorship out of local politics and that empowering people on a local level is important, as well as making people in the communities feel as though they are valued.

Also, other topics mentioned included making sure there are job opportunities throughout all of Iowa’s 99 counties as well as access to needed services including medical, along with improving Iowa’s infrastructure including bridges as he says the infrastructure budget isn’t enough.
