With vaccinations readily available for all those who are above the age of 12, a breakthrough case of COVID-19 is still possible.

Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says even if people who are vaccinated with either Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson, they can still have a breakthrough case.

“Vaccine breakthrough cases are expected. No vaccine for any disease can possibly be 100-percent effective at preventing illness. So, fully vaccinated folks may get COVID.”

Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio that while those who are fully vaccinated can still get COVID-19 there are some advantages that come along with being vaccinated but also contracting the disease.

“Symptoms will be less severe. Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID are much less likely to wind up in the hospital than people who are unvaccinated.”
