Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson continues to make adjustments as the pandemic surges on.

Interim CEO Brian Benson says visitor restrictions for long term care were recently re-implemented due to there being a positive case of COVID-19 found within the department. Benson notes this was the first case of COVID-19 found in long term care since the pandemic began in March of 2019. He praises the staff’s efforts for keeping themselves as well as the residents safe.

“That goes to the dedication of our staff here. Adhering to the protocols we put in place, the safety, the monitoring, the masking, the distancing, and the visitor policies, and that again with our team being dedicated like that protecting the residents and the staff.”

Benson expresses his gratitude to the entire medical center staff for enduring 19 months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They’ve displayed a resilience, a teamwork, compassion and empathy that is typical of Iowans and those of healthcare workers. They’ve exemplified Greene County Medical Center’s vision of ‘Always Here, Always Caring.’ In the short time that I’ve been here I could not be more proud of the medical center staff, their level of professionalism in all areas.”

Benson hopes everyone continues to encourage anyone who is seeking medical care to contact the medical center.
