Thursday, September 9th

1:00am: While on patrol an Officer located an open door at Morton Buildings in the 500 block of East Gallup Road. The Officer checked the property and found nothing suspicious.

10:50am: The Carroll Police Department requested a Jefferson Officer to assist with an investigation. The Officer assisted as requested.

11:53am: Bonnie Orfield of Jefferson reported a stray dog running loose in the 200 block of East Adams Street. The Officer looked for the dog and did not find it.

11:58am: Diane Kneifl of Scranton reported a two-vehicle accident on 220th Street near the intersection with Doreen Wilburn Drive. The Officer investigated and found a 2003 black Hyundai Santa Fe was being operated by Howard Currier of Jefferson eastbound on 220th. To the east of this vehicle was a 2010 Red Chevrolet Silverado operated by Raymond Gregory of Jefferson. The Santa Fe failed to yield as the Silverado slowed. The front of the Santa Fe contacted the rear of the Silverado. Approximately $5000 worth of damage was caused to the Santa Fe. Approximately $3000 worth of Damage was caused to the Silverado. A passenger of the Santa Fe was transported from the scene to the Greene County Medical Center for treatment. As a result of the investigation, Howard Currier of Jefferson was issued a citation for “Failure to Stop in Assured Clear Distance”

1:31pm: An Officer responded to assist the Greene County Ambulance with a call in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive.

9:26pm: Dollar General employees reported a suspicious white car in the parking lot after the store had closed. When the Officer arrived, he was told the vehicle had left. The Officer patrolled the area and did not find anything suspicious.

Friday, September 10th

10:27am: Ron Mahoney of Jefferson reported someone burning construction materials in the 600 block of South Locust Street in violation of city code. The Officer located the source of the complaint and the fire was extinguished.

10:48am: An Officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance Service in the 100 block of North Wilson Street.

12:05pm: Dennie Swanson of Jefferson reported he had been assaulted in the 700 block of South Maple Street. Officers responded and investigated the report. As a result of the investigation, Timothy Day of Jefferson was placed under arrest and transported to the Greene County Jail. Timothy Day was charged with “Disorderly Conduct”, “Assault – Simple”, and “Public Intoxication”

3:21pm: Sparky’s One Stop reported a suspicious male acting oddly inside the store. The Officer located the male, identified as Arron Bock of Illinois. Arron was advised if he did not have business to conduct at Sparky’s, he needed to leave the property.

4:35pm: Karla Dzuris of Jefferson reported a vehicle accident with injury in the 1700 block of North Grimmell Road. Officer responded to the scene and assisted the Greene County Ambulance Service. Traffic Investigators with the Iowa State Patrol were called to investigate the scene. According to the Iowa State Patrol report, a 2016 Honda NPS50 Moped was traveling southbound on Grimmell Road when the 14-year-old operator swerved across the center line into the northbound lane and contacted a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse driven by 48-year-old Nancy Kaufman of Grand Junction. The Juvenile sustained injuries and was transported by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist Hospitals.

5:22pm: The Greene County Law Enforcement Center received two separate reports of a naked male walking near the intersection of Mulberry Road and Central Avenue. The Officer searched the area and did not locate the male.

5:35pm: Linda Coffin of Jefferson reported being harassed while in the 300 block of North Elm Street. The Officer is investigating.

5:58pm: The Greene County Ambulance Service was dispatched to the 1000 block of West Washington Street for a person who had fallen. An Officer responded and assisted the Ambulance Crew as needed.

7:32pm: Mark Cranston of Jefferson reported he had received a voicemail message from a caller he did not know. The message was difficult to understand and sounded as if the male who left it may be need of assistance. The Officer called the male back and found he had called the wrong number and was not in need of assistance.

9:24pm: An Officer preformed a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Elm Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Terry Hildreth of Des Moines was issued a citation for “Failure to Have a Valid Driver License”

Saturday, September 11th

4:14am: Amanda Erritt of Jefferson reported a male guest was destroying her home and personal property in the 800 block of West Adams Street. An Officer responded and found the male, later identified as Casey Kennedy of Grand Junction causing property damage. The Officer placed Casey Kennedy under arrest and transported him to the Greene County Jail. Casey Kennedy was charged with, “Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree – D Felony”

11:01am: Barb Krueger of Jefferson reported a dog left in a vehicle in the HyVee parking lot. Due to the hot weather, she was concerned for the animal’s well-being. The Officer located the vehicle and found the windows partly down and the animal in good health.

7:38pm: Daniel Pittman of Jefferson asked questions regarding a civil dispute over property ownership. The Officer investigated and answered these questions.

8:11pm: Boone County Dispatch advised Greene County Dispatch of a report of a red passenger car westbound on 220th without its headlights on. The Jefferson Officer and Greene County Deputy watched for the vehicle and did not locate it.

Sunday, September 12th

12:32am: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 220th Street and M Avenue. As a result of the traffic stop, Chase Duncan of Grimes was issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”

1:10am: Shannon Otterson of Jefferson request assistance for an Officer with her 16-year-old son and unrelated juvenile female. The Officer responded and assisted in mediating the situation.

2:27am: Devin Pratt of Jefferson reported two juveniles knocking on doors and running away in the 600 block of North Wilson Street. The Officer searched the area and found no one out on foot.

11:47am: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of North Grimmell Road and West Central Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Kelley McCane of Jefferson was issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”

2:10pm: The Greene County Medical Center advised of a dog bite victim at ER needing to speak with an Officer. The Officer responded and found the bite had occurred in Calhoun County. The person was advised to contact their local authorities.

2:21pm: Tickcha Jaimes of Jefferson reported a tire on one of her vehicles had been damaged on September 10th, 2021. The damage was estimated $100 to repair /replace. The Officer is investigating.

3:35pm: Shellie Leesley of Jefferson requested an Officer assist in recovering bicycle parts from another party. The Officer contacted them and they agreed to speak with Shellie.

4:23pm: Billie Jo Hovick of Jefferson reported she had four stray kittens needing to be taken to the animal shelter. The Officer assisted Hovick with this.

4:53pm: John Kratz of Perry reported his former girlfriend had taken a truck from him he had been driving. The Officer investigated and found the female party was the owner of the truck and nothing illegal had occurred.

6:36pm: An anonymous female asked the Officer questions concerning a harassment situation. The Officer answered these questions.

8:29pm: Everett Beebe reported a Careless Driver near Olive and Washington Streets. The reported vehicle was not located.

8:50pm: Tyler Rysavy reported Unwanted Contact by cell phone from a Jeffeerson male. The officer advised the other party to end all contact with Rysavy.

Monday, September 13th

3:30am: A Traffic Stop at 220th, just west of Grimmell Road resulted in Alan Parra-Mendoza being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

11:57am: Jo DeWitt spoke to an officer about a neighbor talking through his outdoor camera as she walks in the alley with her dog. The officer spoke to the other party involved and advised them the alley is a public area and anyone can use it.

12:32pm: Shannon Otteson reported her 16-year-old juvenile son did not arrive at school this morning. She believed him to be with a female. The officer later located the juvenile in Harcourt, with help from Webster County officials. The juvenile was returned to his mother and DHS was contacted by the officer.

1:59pm: A caller advised of receiving a Scam Email from someone claiming to be the United States Postal Service. The caller did not incur a loss or give out any personal information.

6:15pm: Karen Bowen requested an officer at 806 West Washington Street for an argument between a son and mother. The officer arrived and mediated the issue. The juvenile was allowed to leave with his father for the time being.

Tuesday, September 14th

7:59am: An officer investigated a Backing Accident at 606 Hwy. 30 East. 1030 hrs, An officer performed a Funeral Escort. A 2005 Chevrolet 2500, owned by Dean Ross and operated by Clay Ross of Jefferson, was backing from a parking spot and backed into a vehicle parked at the fuel pumps. The 2015 Toyota Avalon was owned by Jesse Perret of Scranton. The Ross vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in damages, while the Perrett vehicle had a reported $3000.00 in damages.

12:24pm: A Traffic Stop near Elm and Madison Streets resulted in Elias Marquez Avila of Des Moines being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

1:40pm: Marlene Larson requested a Welfare Check on a subject in the 700 Block of South Locust Street. The officer determined the subject was not home and was gone with family members.

1:52pm: Carol Schultz requested a Live Trap at 804 South Chestnut Street. A pet rabbit had gotten loose, and they could not catch it. The live trap was provided to Schultz.

2:37pm: Mary Norgart reported a bat in her yard at 301 North Chestnut Street, which could not fly. The officer removed the bat from the area.

5:56pm: An officer located young children riding an ATV on the street near West Mahlon Street. The officer spoke to a parent, who advised he would remedy the issue with his children.

6:06pm: Vic Renwanz spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Child Custody Issue occurring in Jefferson.

8:16pm: A caller advised of a group of juveniles who rang his doorbell and ran away in the 900 Block of North Walnut Street. The officer later located four juveniles and spoke to them about the complaint. They were advised that if they were responsible, they need to find more productive things to be doing.

10:06pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 507 West State Street.
