Local artist and a member of the Iowa House of Representatives Ray Sorenson recently finished his 99th Freedom Rock at the Central City Fairgrounds. 

For more than two decades Sorensen has been painting giant boulders across Iowa as patriotic murals in each of Iowa’s 99 counties. Now the attention will be turned to the 100th Freedom Rock that will be auctioned off to a community and bids will be accepted through November 1st. The winning community will be announced on Veterans Day, November 11th.

Additionally, Sorenson’s mission now is to put Freedom Rocks in every state and he already has ones in Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Washington, Minnesota and North Dakota.
