With colors changing some birds may be preparing to make their journey south and this weekend will provide an opportunity to see some.
Dallas County Conservation Board Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says there will be the High Trestle Trail Hawk Watch this weekend that will take place on the Woodward side of the High Trestle Trail.
“We have a hawk watch that’s coming up on October 3rd and that’s actually located over on the High Trestle Bridge Overlook that there will be lots of people there looking for the Hawks.”
The High Trestle Trail Hawk Watch will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday as the Hawks will move south along the Des Moines River. There will be several experienced “hawkers” able to help new and experienced bird watchers identify the birds as they pass.
