Greene County ISU Extension is inviting the public to join them for the second edition of a StoryWalk.

Extension Director Lori Mannel says the StoryWalk is based on the book “The Apple Pie Tree” by Zoe Hall. Participants start at the Funky Zebra and move clockwise around the downtown square in Jefferson and end up at the Extension office on Washington Street. Mannel talks about the premise and benefits of the StoryWalk event.

“You read the book as you go around, the windows of the businesses. Anybody of any age can participate. Some businesses encourage you to come in and do a little activity or get a little prize. But we encourage literacy with your family, physical activity and of course we really want you to patronize those businesses as you go in, they’ve been hit hard with COVID.”

Mannel points out once you finish reading the story, participants will take a survey and receive a free apple for Deal’s Orchard in Jefferson. The event lasts the entire month of October and is co-sponsored by Deal’s Orchard and the Jefferson Rotary Club. No pre-registration is necessary for the free event.
