WCV football coach Jim Lindsay sat down with me on the Wahl McAtee Tire & Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page to talk about the 2021 season.

The Wildcats finished their regular season last Friday against Interstate 35. Despite the disappointing loss, WCV will participate in another game against Shenandoah. Coach Lindsay was asked about what he thought about the 3-5 regular season.

“Well, we’re not 8-0. (Laughter) We didn’t achieve all of our goals but I think as far as what we accomplished. I’m not even talking about wins and loses. But competing in games we lost.” Lindsay would continue, “Some of the scores the last few years have been pretty lopsided. Aside from AC/GC and Van Meter, but they’ve been doing that to everybody. (Laughter) Our scores win or loss weren’t lopsided. The competitiveness is still there, the football IQ is going up, we’re getting bigger and strong in the weight room. Even though the record isn’t exactly what we wanted.”

Lindsay would finally say this about the season, “But I think we’re getting there. And I’m pretty pleased with how the season has progressed. And the big steps, football wise, these guys have taken.”

Lindsay and the Wildcats will finish off the season Friday at Shenandoah with kickoff set for 7pm.
