Greene County played two volleyball teams that played, and lost, Tuesday in Cedar Rapids at the State Tournament. Class 2A South Hardin (Eldora) downed the Rams in the regular season and 3A qualifier Unity Christian (Orange City) won against the Rams in a Region 3 semifinal in Sioux Rapids.
Chris Heisterkamp is the head coach of the Rams and she commented to Raccoon Valley Radio about those teams, starting with UC. “They were a real powerhouse team. We just could not keep up with their hitting. South Hardin was powerful too, but they also had finesse. They could see the angles and knew where the holes were on the court and how to place the ball there strategically. That’s something we really tried to target the last third of our season and if we can just pick up there and start thinking more strategic, you know you don’t always have to score with the hardest hits, you can score in other ways as well. If we can increase there, we’ll be great!”
The volleyball State Tournament continues today and tomorrow.
