We might be in November, but there’s still time to see fall foliage in the trees.
According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, in west central Iowa, oak trees are among the last to have their leaves change colors. The peak for viewing fall colors in west central Iowa has passed and it is now on a steady decline.
In central Iowa, oak and maple trees are now fully red. Cottonwood and hickory trees are still bright yellow and some even have green leaves left. The fall colors have been extended this season, however with this week’s hard frost, that means leaves are dropping more rapidly and the peak colors will fade before next weekend.
