Monday was the first official day of girls’ basketball practice at Greene County High School and around the state of Iowa. The Rams have had camp and open gym, but this was the first official practice under the direction of new head coach Tori Ogden. She told Raccoon Valley Radio she’s very excited about the opportunity to be a head coach for the first time after several years of assisting as Southeast Warren (Liberty Center).

“I was an assistant volleyball coach at Southeast Warren as well, so I’ve had more time to prepare here since I’m not coaching volleyball. We have around 20 girls out, which is a number I’m happy with for the first year. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I’m looking forward to working with the girls and building a program from the Youth level to Middle School to the Varsity.”

Greene County hasn’t had a winning varsity girls’ basketball season in more than a decade. The Rams open the season on Nov. 29 at Ogden and that girl/boy doubleheader can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
