
A Panora man was recently sentenced for an incident in Jefferson.
According to court documents, 45-year-old Russell Gardner pled guilty to a Class D Felony for second degree criminal mischief and an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the felony charge and two years in prison for the misdemeanor, which are to be served consecutively.
The charges stem from an incident on April 24th. A Jefferson Police Officer responded to a call of criminal mischief at a home and a vehicle in the 400 block of West Russell Street at 3:05am on April 24th. The officer found the vehicle’s hood damaged, along with a window to the home. The total estimated cost of damages was $1,700.
Gardner was also ordered to pay over $1,600 in court-appointed attorney fees and court costs. As per the plea agreement, Gardner’s other charges, including misdemeanors for harassment and trespassing were dismissed.
