If you are making your way through Minburn you may see a new town sign that was put up courtesy of a local boys scouts troop.
Jan Shirley of the Minburn Women’s Club says the Boy Scouts Troop 116 from Dallas Center recently helped installed a new sign in Minburn that had already been made. Shirley says a local family was able to allow the sign to be installed on a piece of their property .
“I am very thankful for Dan Case who sponsored this through the boy scouts and they took it on as a project. He happened to be at the (city)council meeting the night that we were there and asked the council to do it and he contacted me and said that the scouts would take it on as a project.”
Shirley tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the future plans to enhance the sign, which includes lighting, among other things. She is appreciative of the help.
“We are really thankful for the scouts and for the people that gave us permission to put it on their land. We are just thankful.”
The new sign is located on the southside of Minburn just before the bike trail.
