Greene County High School wrestling expects to have a strong season ahead and fans will have to do some traveling to watch the team in the postseason. The Iowa High School Athletic Association released Sectional and District assignments and Greene County goes to Harlan for a Class 2A Sectional and to Glenwood for a 2A District.

Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams will be joined on Saturday, Feb. 5 in Harlan by Carroll, Glenwood, Harlan, Red Oak, and Southwest Iowa (Sidney). The top two finishers in each Sectional weight class will advance to the Feb. 12 District along with qualifiers from the Leon Sectional which includes Central Decatur, Atlantic, Clarinda, Clarke (Osceola), Creston, and Shenandoah.

First and second place finishers at the District qualify for the Feb. 18-29-20 State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Rams open the wrestling season on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Van Meter vs. Ogden, PCM (Monroe) and VM.
