As holiday-themed events continue to pick up, there will be a fun event this weekend in Perry for people to enjoy.

Perry Booster Club Vice President Joe Tuhn says the 5K Tinsel Trot will be taking place this Saturday in Perry with registration at 10 a.m. and a start time of 10:30 a.m. Tuhn says the event is a way for the booster club to raise money.

“It’s just supposed to be a fun event to help raise money for the Perry Booster Club and to have fun after Thanksgiving, maybe work off a few pounds from that Thanksgiving dinner.”

Tuhn tells Raccoon Valley Radio it’s a good feeling to be in a position to hold the event in a normal fashion as last year the event was held virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Tuhn encourages people to come out and enjoy the event.

“If you feel like getting out of the house and want to come down and have fun. If you have some kind of a silly sweatshirt, or an outfit or a costume, please come out, please enjoy it, please participate. That $30, or that $20 if you’re a student it can really help us out in a big way.”

The cost to participate in the Perry Booster Club’s 5K Tinsel Trot is $30 for adults and $20 for students. There will also be prizes given out for the most festive dressed adult and student.
