With holiday shopping about to get underway, there will be a special day this weekend to highlight small businesses.
Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says Small Business Saturday will be taking place this weekend. Pasutti says the event has been taking place for roughly ten years now and explains what the event is.
“Small Business Saturday is a nationwide movement that really is meant to support small, local businesses in our own communities instead of sending our dollars elsewhere. Unlike some of our other bigger events that are ticketed and really coordinated, here is a list of participants. It’s really just a casual way of encouraging people to support local businesses.”
Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is an event page that shares the message of shopping locally. Pasutti says when people are out holiday shopping, people should remember it doesn’t just have to be gifts people purchase for others.
“It could also be in the form of gift certificates, gift cards, Perry Bucks so that we are also supporting local services. Everyone gets a haircut at least once a year right? Needs an oil change, you name it there are things that you can find locally.”
