As the coronavirus pandemic continues, it is now flu season and you can become vaccinated against both at the same time.

Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran assures everyone that it is safe to get a COVID-19 and a flu vaccine at the same time.

“The only side effect observed so far with getting both the flu and COVID vaccines at the same time is that you will have two stiff arms instead of just one. There is no negative impact on the efficacy of the vaccines to get them simultaneously.”

Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are plenty of places throughout Dallas County where people can become vaccinated against both the flu and COVID-19. She says parents should take children to their regular provider but for adults it can be a little easier.

“For adults, there are lots of options for both flu shots and COVID-19. The HyVee Pharmacies are handy for many Dallas County residents. The website vaccinate.iowa.gov has lots of choices as well and you can call the Dallas County Health Department.”
