Greene County’s wrestling program is seeking Weight Class sponsors, an annual fundraiser that helps the program pay for travel expenses and other items. Head Coach Zach Beekman told Raccoon Valley Radio the goal is to raise $5,000. “Travel expenses are included, as are middle school apparel. Middle school singlets come out of that fundraising as well. All of the stuff in our program that we try to provide for ourselves we try to do through fundraising as much as we can. This Weight Class Sponsor is a big deal for our program.”

Coach Beekman added they try to fundraise once a year and he told Raccoon Valley Radio this effort will cease shortly after the Thanksgiving break from school ends. Those wishing to contribute should contact Zach Beekman at Power Lift or the Activities Department at Greene County High School.

The Rams open the wrestling season on Nov. 30 in Van Meter for a quadrangular vs. VM, Ogden, and PCM (Monroe). The first tournament of the season is a two-day event in Independence starting Friday, Dec. 3 in the afternoon and going through Saturday, Dec. 4.
