The Guthrie Center School Board at their last meeting approved a new scoreboard for Charger Stadium.
Superintendent Dennis McClain says this new scoreboard is needed because their current scoreboard is 13 years old. McClain states having a new scoreboard is a preventative measure to make sure they can run efficient sporting events. He describes the types of things they can do with the new scoreboard.
“We’ll just be able to do more things with video. It’ll be a more interactive process and we’ll be able to get students involved in running that. We’d like to make it a curricular area for students to get some background in and maybe be able to utilize down the road maybe when they go to college.”
McClain adds the new scoreboard will allow for advertisements to be displayed on the screen during events which could be a way to help pay for the scoreboard and additional updates. He also says the scoreboard could be used for other events like movie nights. The price for the new scoreboard is $64,485.
