This is day two of the very large Independence, IA Mustang Wrestling Invitational. Wrestling started at 2 p.m. on Friday and continued well into the evening. More than 30 teams are taking part including Greene County High School wrestlers. Wrestlers were in pools on Friday and depending on how they did, were grouped into pools of eight with the Gold bracket being the top eight in each weight class with the Silver bracket the next eight, and the rest were assigned to the Bronze bracket. Gold bracket wrestlers won all their matches on Friday. Coach Zach Beekman brought 11 wrestlers with five advancing to the Gold bracket in their weight class, one to Silver, and the other five in Bronze.

Saturday’s matches will determine what places each wrestler gets within their bracket. The Rams have one number one seed in 2021 State Champion McKinley Robbins at 132 lbs. The two seed at that weight is Blaine Frazier of Notre Dame West Burlington. Robbins beat Frazier last February 7-5 in the Class 2A 120 lbs. State Championship match.
