After an unusual year of 2020 and with some things returning to normal in 2021, the Heart Of Iowa Habitat For Humanity of Guthrie County is looking forward to getting back to even more normal conditions in 2022.

Executive Director Jeff Lamoureux says they have been cautious in getting volunteer groups together so Habitat turned to hiring contractors for a few projects in Guthrie County.

Work on one down in Stuart, do some yard cleanup for a little cleanup for a homeowner down there and also repair or replace the entryway for them. It’s kind of a pretty good sized project and then replace some gutters. In Guthrie Center, finishing up with again using some contractors on a project there in Guthrie Center, one that we had actually started last year.”

Lamoureux says when he couldn’t organize a volunteer group for a project he was able to help families with grant opportunities. He adds he wishes he could have done more housing projects but were happy with what they accomplished.
