Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation continues its tradition of the “Giving Back” campaign near the end of the year.

So far this year, the non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson has given away $15,000 to three recipients, including the Jefferson Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #9599 for the renovations to their facility, the Greene County Adopt-A-Family for the Operation Warm Hearts and the holiday food baskets, as well as the local food pantry with Greene County Action Resource Center. ARC Manager Shirley Haupert expresses her gratitude for receiving a $5,000 check from GGCGC.

“That is so appreciated because what the food pantry has done for many, many years is during Thanksgiving and Christmas or November and December, we give them extra meat. Of course for Thanksgiving time we give them turkey, and Christmas time we give them a meat voucher, and let them choose whatever meats they would choose at the store.”

GGCGC Board Member Peg Raney explains the importance of why they continue to do their “Give Back” campaign, which is primarily decided by their board and without a particular application.

“We pride ourselves that we keep abreast of what’s going on and see that there’s some organizations that are working really hard, trying to get some things going. But just something that we can do to just really support that in our county.”

Raney adds that they are planning on giving away one more $5,000 donation later this month.
