The 10th annual Raccoon Valley Radio Caring Christmas Food Drive continues to collect donations at many locations coming up.

The Big Red Radio and Little Big Red Radio will be at many locations around the listening area to collect donations to fill the local food pantries. The remote broadcasts start Monday at the Paton-Churdan School from 8:30-10:30am; along with Perry Hy-Vee and Adel Fareway from 4-6pm. On Tuesday there will be a location at Hometown Foods in Guthrie Center from 10am-noon, sponsored by RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program; and Hometown Foods in Stuart from 4-6pm. Also on Wednesday at Jefferson Fareway from 2-4pm, sponsored by Junkyard Cafe and; Perry Fareway from 4-6pm, sponsored by Dallas County Hospital. At the end of the week on Friday there will be a location at Adel Fareway from 4-6pm.

General Manager John McGee says all the food and money donations will go directly to the food pantry in the area.

We take the grocery donations and the cash donations, which are now groceries and immediately following our remotes, we’ve got it set up with the food pantry where we go to the food pantry and drop that off, usually within 15 minutes to a half hour from the time we’re done with our broadcast. We take that directly out of the food pantry so they can start the very next day and get it into the hands of those that (are) need.”

Raccoon Valley Radio reminds participants that donating to the food drive will also enter you into the Caring Christmas Cash Giveaway. Raccoon Valley Radio will be giving away three $1,000 prizes, one on each of the three stations KDLS, KGRA, and KKRF. You can register for the grand prize online. Every Christmas Cash Call registration box will have a scannable QR code that will direct you to a secure donation website tied directly to the food pantry in the area.
