As people head out to get their COVID-19 booster shots, there is one important thing to keep in mind.
Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says booster shots for COVID-19 are available for all those who are above the age of 17 and who have been fully vaccinated for at least six months. Cochran explains another important aspect when it comes to getting the booster dose of the vaccine.
“It’s also okay to get any of the COVID vaccines available as a booster dose. You don’t have to, for instance, get the Moderna if your initial doses were Moderna. You can switch to a different kind if that’s more readily available at the place where you are going to get your booster shot.”
Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio she encourages people to get their initial vaccinations, especially if they haven’t finished being fully vaccinated.
“I just continue to encourage everyone to get fully vaccinated. If you got one dose earlier this year and you got busy this fall with fall work or with sports and you never finished your second dose, please go ahead and do that.”
