It may not seem like it this week, but it is the winter season and sooner or later we are going to encounter colder temperatures. With that in mind, it’s important to dress for the weather.
Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely says even though the weather has had its ups and downs in terms of temperature it’s still important for people to wear appropriate clothing for winter.
“Make sure that if you are going to be outdoors to dress in layers and dress for the weather. We have seen 60 degrees recently and we have also seen about 15 degrees. So, make sure that you are dressing in layers and being able to shed some layers as you need to throughout the day as we warm upland then put them back on if we are if it gets colder later in the day.”
Seely tells Raccoon Valley Radio another important thing to remember is notifying someone else of where they are going, if they are traveling outside.
“What that does is it just gives them some additional awareness that if you’re not back in half an hour maybe they come out and check on you, make sure you are doing okay.”
Seely says a lot of falls can occur in the colder months due to adverse conditions, which can make it important to let people know where you plan to be.
